About Olive Hills Estate

The vineyards and mansion at Olive Hills was built and developed by a Scottish immigrant, Hugh Fraser in 1886. A vision of grandeur and a passion to produce fine wines in the beautiful Rutherglen region was the ultimate goal of Hugh Fraser. Due to family tragedy and the outbreak of the influenza virus, Hugh Fraser left the region. Over the next 100 years and with neglect and little maintenance over the years the mansion and property were in disrepair. With the dreams of creating a unique vineyard and winery oozing with character, Ross and Kay Perry purchased the heritage-listed house and 500 acres of land of Rutherglen in 1997, undaunted by the enormity of resurrecting the vineyard, wines and mansion at Olive Hills Estate. After much love and attention over a decade saw the complete refurbishment of the home to the glory the heritage property displays today. 

Ross, having previously studied Onelogy at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga and Kay having previous roles in marketing and sales came to the forefront when developing Olive Hills Estate Winery. Ross and Kay's eldest son Harry is keen to continue to follow in his father's footstep in the future. In 2018 Harry embarked on a Bachelor of Wine Science at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga with the passion to become the second generation winemaker in years to come. Their second child Joe has a keen passion for the vines and plans to study viticulture in order to manage the vineyard in years to come and continue Ross's passion for a sustainable vineyard. Matilda their third child has a background in business and finance and assists with the finances and manages the wine club. Harry's wife Micaela handles marketing, events and weddings.

 The Olive Hills mansion has undergone major renovations in keeping with the initial style and is the family home of Ross, Kay, Harry, Joe and Matilda. 

Functions and weddings have become very popular in the restored original winery, which features the original beams and chandeliers.

​In September 2020 Harry, Joe and Matilda have launched a new wine range called Climb The Tower Wines. This new range and label illustration tell the story of the fun and playful years of growing up on the estate and playing in the tower as children.

Ross, Kay and their family welcome visitors to enjoy the fruits of their labour and the rustic and natural beauty of Olive Hills Estate and its surroundings.
